Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants should:

  • Understand how Intraoperative adverse events can have considerable emotional impact on a clinician’s well-being including strong feelings of sadness, anxiety, and shame. 
  • Understand the current legal status of medicinal and recreational cannabis use in the state, and the associated implications for providers who may choose to use cannabis.
  • Understand the practical use of cannabis for acute vs. chronic pain
  • Be able to recognize the anesthetic implications of acute intoxication vs. chronic use of cannabis
  • Understand specific anesthetic agents that can be used to promote ERAS care, approaches to manage the common recovery challenges of pain and nausea, and techniques that can facilitate recovery and safe discharge.
  • Understand the central role of culture in building organizational success
  • Understand the breadth of ASA activities for its members, including “Who We Are”, ASAPAC Update, our strategic plan, advocacy focus areas for 2020, and update on key member-focused initiatives & programs.

The Ann Arbor Marriott is located in Ypsilanti off I-94, approximately 15 minutes from Detroit Metro Airport.

From the North: Take I-75 S/US-23 Ann Arbor/Detroit. Stay on US-23, follow signs for Ann Arbor. Take Exit 35 for I-94 E. Take Exit 183 for Huron St toward Ypsilanti. Turn right onto Huron St and then left onto James L Hart Pkwy. The hotel will be on the left.
